The Wilkinson Group’s founding partners Peter and Claire Wilkinson have sold more than half their business to the PR firm’s employees.

Veteran journalist and PR consultant Peter Wilkinson (pictured) set up the business with his wife Claire 11 years ago. The sale has led to the creation of a new company, Etched Communications.

Peter said: “The sale will substantially reduce our administrative workload and means 90% of my work hours will be client-focused, rather than 50%. Prior to establishing the agency, Claire and I both had 30-year careers in the media and entertainment industries. We feel it is now time for us to take a step back and work smarter, not harder.”

Andrew Butler, managing director of the new Etched Communications, said: “We’ve been given a really special chance and it was serendipitous we had a tight-knit team in place when Claire and Peter made the offer. Together, Cameron Blair, Peter Taueki, Dalton Chung and I have the drive, expertise and experience to continue growing in our niche of the market.”

Peter will continue to provide strategic advice to the Etched team and its clients, working as a sub-contractor.
