Seven wins with Wawrinka vs Berdych

Less than a million tuned in last night to Seven’s coverage of the Stanislas Wawrinka vs Tomas Berdych’s match, a slump in the boost the tennis saw on Wednesday night.

Where the Roger Federer and Andy Murray match on Wednesday night saw 1.279 million viewers on the edge of their seat, only 926,000 viewers sat down for the first lot of the Australian Open men’s semi-finals, with the Aus Open’s hometown of Melbourne pulling in the most viewers at 341,000.

The tennis was still enough for Seven to win the largest share of free-to-air viewers last night with a  total combined share of 33.2%, with 25.2% of that going to its primary channel, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

Nine’s news and the millionaire game show hosted by Eddie McGuire, Hot Seat, helped the network pull into second place with a total share of 25.5%.

Ten’s Ten Eyewitness News nabbed number nine in the top ten shows most watched for last night with 649,000 viewers, bringing Ten’s share to 20% with 12.4% going to its primary channel.

ABC came in fourth with a total share of 15.7% and SBS fell into fifth with a total share of 5.7%.
