The membership structure of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) has undergone a “major restructure” to better cater for in-house PR teams and students.
The new ‘organisational’ level membership is broken down into four categories: government, corporate, not-for-profit and tertiary education.
PRIA said in a release: “The primary benefits of this new level of membership will be a group discount to organisations with four or more staff and organisational members also have the opportunity to customise benefits that suit their relevant sector in conjunction with PRIA.”
The changes come after a pop-up committee was established to reflect upon the organisation’s structures.
The student membership has been revamped with the timings now running now reflecting the academic year rather than the financial. A Student Ambassador Program has also been established along with a new logo for members to use.
The chances will come into effect in time for the 2013/14 financial year.
Catriona Barry, interim-CEO for PRIA, said: "This is an exciting time for the PR and Communications industry and as needs and requirements of our members change and grow, we obviously need to evolve with them if we're to continue to provide tangible value to our membership base.”
