Octagon bolsters Asian operation

Octagon Sydney’s commercial lead is upping sticks and moving to Singapore to take on the role of regional strategy director for the agency.

Adam Hodge (pictured), group commercial director currently based at the Sydney office of the global sports and entertainment marketing agency, will start in his new role on March 10.

Hodge joined Octagon as strategy director in 2011, having previously worked in both agency and client-side roles in Sydney, London and Munich.

In Singapore, he will lead strategy development and delivery for clients that include Mastercard, Johnson & Johnson, Continental and the Football Association Singapore.

He will be joining South East Asia general manager Ben Hartmann, who moved from Octagon’s Sydney office to set up its Singapore operations last year.

Sean Nicholls, president of Octagon Asia Pacific, said: “Adam’s appointment is a reflection of the growth in our business in this part of the world and the opportunities that lie ahead.

“This move is in line with our intention to bring our people closer together in Asia Pacific to deliver for our clients as a truly global agency with local and regional expertise.

“Adam is a great operator. In fact, I’d love to clone him and drop him into a number of markets in the region.”

Hodge said: “I have been very lucky to work with an amazing group of people in my three years with Octagon Australia and I look forward to the next step in this adventure.

“We have a great bunch of smart people in South East Asia and an exciting group of clients who challenge us to deliver great work. I’m inspired by the opportunity.”

Octagon has set plans underway to replace Hodge’s role in Sydney.
