In an unprecedented move Tourism in the Northern Territory has been given a huge financial boost and tasked to drive the growth of the NT economy. No B.S, we’ve been given an extra $103m to attract visitors, see for yourself by googling – “Turbocharge NT Tourism” to see what everyone is talking about.  Tourism NT is now seeking someone to take this challenge on and put this money to good use across the whole of Australia and New Zealand. We are looking for an imaginative, results driven leader for the domestic marketing team. You can choose your work and lifestyle location from either the tropical city of Darwin or one of Australia’s truly iconic locations, Alice Springs. Either way you’ll be living in one of the world’s most remarkable destinations and responsible for telling people just how awesome it is.

The Northern Territory is home to global tourism icons, Uluru and Kakadu, as well as a plethora of other world class experiences, amazing landscapes, relaxed vibes and incredible adventures. We’re looking for a highly driven marketing expert to lead the domestic marketing team and take on the challenge of marketing the NT as the most desirable destination in Australia.

Here’s what it’s all about:

  • You’ll be responsible for developing integrated global marketing plans with a focus on interstate and intra-territory travel creating compelling reasons for people to visit the NT. Think stunning sunsets, rich culture, clever taglines, endless experiences and iconic landscapes.
  • You’ll drive and maintain an internal team whilst building effective connections with the NT industry and travel supply chain partners to increase the NT profile, including delivering strategic presentations at multiple events throughout the year. The ability to speak to a cross section of audiences without the marketing or tourism jargon is a must.
  • You’ll monitor global market trends to create effective campaigns around events, wildlife experiences, adventure and once in a lifetime Australian experiences through PR, trade and all types of media with the help of creative agencies under your management.
  • Last but not least, you’ll work with the other marketing directors across the government network of departments to find better ways to work together and deliver results while navigating and mastering the exciting public service processes and systems.

Ideally, you’ll be a marketer with proven ability to lead an enthusiastic team and create a culture that will take us to the next level of domestic marketing greatness (and win us some cool awards). This job isn’t for the apprehensive, we need you to tackle the job head on, make the tough decisions and lead the team to tell Australia why they should ‘Do the NT’.
