KFC’s summer of cricket

KFC is using one of the familiar voices of the Australian summer Billy Birmingham in its big summer promotional push.

Birmingham, aka the 12th man, impersonates the familiar characters of the Channel Nine commentary team in the voice over in the new TVC spearheading an integrated cricket-themed promotion.

It promotes two summer meal deal products, the KFC Commentary Box and the KFC Cricket Variety Box linking the consumption of the products to the terms used in cricket. A 40 minute compilation CD of “The 12thMan’s Greatest Hits’ accompanied the packs.

A linked promotion offered offered consumers the chance to win “The Perfect Day” at the One Day Final at the SCG in February.

The prize includes a private box, the chance to watch the Australian team warm-up, an Australian team uniform and a visit to the Channel Nine commentary box.
