CALTEX Australia has teamed up with online marketing company pureprofile to offer consumers petrol discounts for parting with some of their personal information.
The marketing initiative invites consumers to participate anonymously by completing a short lifestyle survey profiling their interests and hobbies.
This information is then used by advertisers to closely target offers and promotions via SMS or email.
The advertiser involved then provides cash credits to each recipient who views and responds to a campaign, with consumers able to redeem the cash credits at any pureprofile partner, such as any participating Caltex and Ampol stores across Australia.
The agreement with pureprofile will extend nationally across Caltex
Australia's 1800 participating Caltex and Ampol stores, ensuring the promotion benefits rural, regional and metropolitan consumers.
Caltex acting general manager marketing Jim Meynink said the Caltex partnership gave pureprofile's 50,000 registered account holders the opportunity to redirect the money into StarCash credits, which could be used to pay for both petrol and a wide range of goods available from Caltex convenience stores.
Simply by responding to five email messages, the recipients generates $5.
