White Agency Melbourne appoints creative chief

The White Agency Melbourne has appointed Peter Cerny as its creative head, as well as winning the digital account of clothing brand Sussan.

The agency’s new business success also includes its appointment by the University of Melbourne to work on its email strategy and design solutions.

Cerny has joined the Melbourne office after three years at the White Agency in Sydney, where he was group creative head.

His move to Melbourne to head up creative follows the appointment of Darwin Tomlinson as the agency’s ECD, replacing Tribal DDB-bound Matt Grogan.

The capture of Sussan’s business, following a competitive pitch, is the latest notable account win for the agency, which was appointed by Calibre Clothing and Drinkwise last year.

Mat Medcalf, GM of The White Agency Melbourne, told B&T Today: “With Sussan being one of the largest apparel and sleepwear retailers in the country, comes an equally large ongoing opportunity to engage their demographic both online and in store.

“We have partnered with Sussan to provide them with ongoing digital counsel and management of their website, email strategy and VIP program.

“A huge opportunity exists for Australian retailers align their offline and online strategies with the view to drive multi-channel engagement and sales.”

On Cerny’s arrival, Medcalf said: “We are extremely excited that Peter Cerny has joined the Melbourne office from our Sydney office after his recent promotion to head of creative, particularly with 2010 being our year of creative excellence.

“His addition will add considerable creative firepower and direction for the team and to our current clients, namely Tourism Victoria, Sussan, Drinkwise and Sensis.”

Medcalf added that the agency was looking to double its staff numbers to 12 by the end of the year, with positions in account service, production and creative to be created.
