An Australian company is making the most of the common escalator by fitting advertising to handrails, and has just launched campaigns for both Telstra and Optus.
Escalated Advertising has just installed the handrail advertising campaign for the telcos, with Optus using Dandenong Plaza in Melbourne, and Telstra Bigpond using Waringah Mall in Sydney and Pacific Fair in the Gold Coast.
The company has established relationships with properties around the country such as malls, train stations and airports. It is also working on spreading the new medium around the world and has signed partnership deals with countries including Thailand, New Zealand, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Romania, Bulgaria, Kuwait, Oman, Puerto Rico and South Africa.
Matt Schmidt, general manager of Escalated Advertising, claimed the handrail media achieved better cut through than “traditional billboards and street furniture that generally have a very short exposure period, blend into their surroundings and are often positioned in a cluttered environment.”
Vodafone and McDonald’s have also run campaigns with the company.
