Sydney still hot for The Hot Hits
For the 3rd survey in a row, mcm’s weekly interactive chart show, The Hot Hits, ranked
number one in its timeslot in Sydney. The latest metropolitan radio ratings prove The Hot Hits
is increasingly popular in all main markets.
Hosted by Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O, The Hot Hits is syndicated to 74 stations around the
country including the TODAY network. In the latest radio survey The Hot Hits increased its
audience share in all major capital cities. The largest share increase was in Perth where the
program gained 4% and now attracts 16.7% of the audience. Among the target demographic
of 18-39s, The Hot Hits is the No.1 station on Saturday afternoons in both the Sydney and
Melbourne markets.
The success of The Hot Hits is expected to continue into 2008 with the rising public profiles of
the hosts, Kyle and Jackie O. Both are locked in to host the next series of Big Brother and have
recently picked up another Commercial Radio Award for Best On-Air Team.
Other successes across the mcm radio catalogue include;
- American Top 40, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, increased its share in Sydney, Melbourne
and Perth. In Perth, American Top 40 recorded its highest audience share for the past 12
months following a 3.3% increase for Survey #7. American Top 40 is also No.1 in its timeslot
among FM stations in Melbourne.
- mcm’s Saturday night dance program, Loaded has increased its share in Sydney,
Adelaide and Brisbane with the largest increase being in Brisbane among the target
demographic of 18-39s – up 3.5%. Loaded is No.1 in Melbourne in its timeslot among FM
stations
- In Perth and Melbourne, Jono Coleman’s My Generation increased its share for all
people 10+ and all people 25-54 despite weekly share decreases for the respective stations,
GOLD FM and 96FM
- Planet Rock Evolution, in the last survey before the new look show is launched,
increased its share in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne among the target demo, people 30-
44yrs.
