Unilever cuts six marketing jobs in restructure Tim Addington
Unilever has restructured its marketing department under a single head resulting in around six people losing their jobs.
The FMCG giant has merged the marketing functions of its foods and household and personal care businesses into one unit, with David McNeil, the former VP of food marketing, leading the merged marketing team.
The move was instigated by the promotion of Charmaine England, former VP of marketing for household and personal care, who is moving to a job with Unilever in Singapore.
Nick Goddard, corporate relations director at Unilever said: “The promotion of Charmaine has given us the opportunity to align the marketing functions towards the one VP rather than two. One VP will look after foods and household and personal care and in doing that align the structure underneath.
“Some people will be leaving the business over the course of the next few months.”
Unilever, which spends in excess of $50m a year on advertising according to Nielsen Media Research, employs around 70 people in its marketing department. The half dozen redundancies all come from within that department and all are based in Sydney. Staff were told on Tuesday of the changes.
