McDonald’s launches comedy MasterChef spots

OMD has created an online comedy series for its client McDonald’s to support its sponsorship of hit Ten Network show MasterChef.

The media agency’s branded content division Fuse partnered with production house Fremantle Media, makers of MasterChef, to create the comic spin-off, which will be house on the Masterchef website.

The series, called Macca’s Chef, is a “tongue-in-cheek version” of MasterChef, set in a McDonald’s environment.

It follows two trainees, Steve and Chris, as they attempt to become Australia’s next Macca’s Chef. Comedians Matthew Okine and Michael Chamberlain have been cast as Steve and Chris.

The comedy content will be promoted via McDonald’s on-air and online sponsorship of Celebrity MasterChef, which debuts tonight.
