Melbourne-based agency cummins&partners has been awarded the Virgin Atlantic account after a four-way closed pitch.
Virgin Atlantic’s consumer marketing executive Steve Brister confirmed the win via an email to B&T this morning.
Cummins&partners also currently handles the Virgin Blue business.
The incumbent was Host, working with The Glue Society, which has held the account since December 2004 when it worked on the airline’s Australian launch campaign.
Host did not repitch for the business.
“Virgin Atlantic is one and a half years old now [in Australia] and Host and The Glue Society did a great job but a review was always in the cards,” Brister told B&T.
Cummins will now work with NetX and Mitchell’s on the $1m advertising account to achieve what Brister describes as “aggressive business objectives” to grow the Kangaroo route (Sydney-Hong Kong-UK) in 2006, which is dominated by Qantas and British Airways.
