Euro RSCG’s TVC for Nurofen Zavance is from the United Kingdom and has been re-edited for Australia. Dead giveaways are the poor dubbing and one-size-fits-all approach. We see a young woman who is some sort of pit co-ordinator at a car race (we know this because she is wearing a headset and there is a cut-away to European-style racing cars duelling). “Full speed” shouts the pit boss, “I’m onto it!” she shouts back, in the least convincing portrayal of life on the fast track since Tom Cruise’s Days of Thunder. Unfortunately our heroine is struck by headache, but by pressing a red button and shouting “Activating Zavance” her pain disappears, and the Zavance-sponsored car wins. Apparently the proposition is that Zavance is “absorbed twice as fast as standard Nurofen”. Does that mean that if you want a prolonged headache you should take standard Nurofen product?
