Thank God it’s free
Nichola Patterson

Tomorrow night, Network Ten will launch free ad-supported downloads of its ad-lib TV show Thank God Youre Here, allowing viewers to stream them online or watch them anywhere on portables such as an iPod or PSP.

Each download will run for up to eight minutes and will be exclusively sponsored by Hungry Jack’s.

It will be available at midnight on the day of broadcast and will comprise of a 15-second Network Ten promo, followed by the best Thank God Youre Here segment of the week, and finish with a 30-second Hungry Jack’s ad.

Damian Smith, Network Ten’s general manager of digital media, expects there to be strong viewer recall with only one advertiser for the series, referring to the segments as “ideal snack TV”.

“We had more than 20,000 downloads of the season one final episode, despite very little publicity,” Smith said.

“That reinforces our confidence that viewers who are highly engaged with a program will seek out additional opportunities to experience it.”
