Heinz has hired John Chatterton, previously marketing general manager at ABC Learning, as its general manager marketing for its Australian business.
Chatterton started in his new role this week. Prior to his ABC Learning role Chatterton held senior marketing roles at Campbell Arnott’s Asia Pacific, as well as Walkers Snacks and Nestle Rowntree, both based in the UK.
Chatterton fills a role vacated by Mel Jones, who departed Heinz two months ago. He will oversee the marketing of Heinz’s ready meals range, which includes beans, spaghetti, soup, ketchup and sauces, frozen vegetables. He will also be responsible for the Cottee’s, Greenseas and Roses brands.
The appointment of Chatterton follows the hiring earlier this year of Cameron MacFarlane as general manager marketing for Golden Circle. MacFarlane, formerly of Fosters and Nestle, handles the marketing of a portfolio that includes the Original Juice Company, as well as Golden Circle.
Heinz said that Chatterton’s experiences at ABC Learning will provide insights to its infant feeding and Little Kids work, while MacFarlane leads its charge into beverages marketing for the first time following the acquisition of Golden Circle in December 2008.
Asked about the hire, Suzanne Douglas, managing director of Heinz Australia, said: "We are delighted to have Cameron and John on board at this exciting time for Heinz Australia, as we consolidate the business following the acquisition of Golden Circle and look to the next stage of growth for the base business over the next two to three years."
