Breaking campaigns: RedBalloon gets Top Gun treatment

Three Drunk Monkeys has spoofed 80s classic Top Gun in a new campaign to promote RedBalloon, the online gift experiences retailer.

The TVC shows a man who has always been obsessed with becoming a fighter pilot, re-enacting scenes from the film Top Gun. His long suffering girl friend then gives the everyday man the chance to fulfill his dream, with a RedBalloon gift: A flight in a fighter jet.

The TVC ends with the adrenalin junkie in the jet about to take off, with the tagline: “Give them what they have always wanted.”

The campaign has launched on Foxtel and online with 30 and 45 second versions of the ad.

Campaign Credits: creative team Scott Nowell, Justin Drape, Noah Regan, Scott Dettrick and Nick Morrissey, content management Leigh Morrison, client team Kristie Buchannan and Gemma Fastnedge, director Phil Meatcham from Film Graphics, producers Chris Moore and Jo Jordan, production company Film Graphics, agency producer Thea Carone.
