Magna Systems signs Blue Order
Magna Systems and Engineering, leading systems integrator and supplier of technology
to the broadcast and communication industries, have announced that, after a 3 year world-
wide assessment of Media Asset Management (MAM) systems, they have signed a dealership
arrangement with Blue Order, the leading Media Asset Management provider, becoming a
distributor of their Media Archive system in the Asia Pacific market.
Magna Systems managing director Robert Clemesha said, “This deal with Blue Order is
extremely significant for our clients across the Asia Pacific region. Previously, most MAM
systems on the market could not deliver on all customer requirements, were too complex
to integrate and had little real benefit in a true broadcast environment. Blue Order’s Media
Archive system is the first true next generation MAM system that makes content available,
anytime, anywhere, and in any format quickly and easily. Media Archive uses the latest Web
2.0 technology providing simple, cost effective integration with existing infrastructure and
a perfect match with Magna’s other latest generation products including Broadcast Traffic
Systems (BTS), Pebble Beach automation, and Front Porch DivArchive.”
Founded in 1986 and head-quartered in Kaiserslauten, Germany, Blue Order has invested
over US$22 million in Media Archive which has 4600 concurrent users across 43 installations
including ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG - Germany’s largest private broadcaster and Zweites
Deutsches Fernsehen (ZDF) - Europe’s largest public broadcaster.
Media Archive is ideal for larger media companies and networks as it scales to thousands of
users and offers a wide variety of custom configuration options and integration packages,
making it the ideal platform for enterprise-scale MAM solutions.
Clemesha continued, “What has real value to customers is the way that Media Archive works
as an infrastructure product and MAM system across all the areas of the broadcast workflow
rather than as a stand alone MAM system. For the first time with Media Archive a client can
truly integrate traffic, automation and archiving bringing efficiencies and benefits to each.
This isn’t just an attractive GUI, it is a smart decision that will bring positive change to an
organisation. Media Archive creates an overall solution framework architecture and powerful
metadata exchange. It is not reliant on a single manufacturer’s equipment and brings native
connectivity to a wide range of inter-related systems.”
Blue Order COO Wilhelm Kruger said, “With their excellent reputation and broadcast
knowledge base, Magna Systems is the perfect distributor for Media Archive in Asia Pacific.
They compliment our policy of maintaining close partnerships with some of the world’s
leading systems integrators, among them Sony, Ascent Media and IBM, and technology
partners such as AnyStream, TeleStream and Microsoft, and Front Porch, etc. As a result we
will continue to successfully leverage third party technologies in our integrated customer
solutions.”
Richard Green, Manager of Magna’s new Software Business Unit said “We are very excited
with how effectively and efficiently Media Archive completes our broadcast workflow
solutions portfolio. With the enterprise Traffic systems from BTS, exciting new developments
from automation partner Pebble Beach, and innovative advances from archive middleware
vendor Front Porch Digital, we have had unprecedented interest from the market and expect
to make further sales announcements in the near future.”
Frank Rauch, Blue Order’s Chairman said “We were deeply impressed by Magna Systems in-
depth knowledge and capabilities in the broadcast field. After intensive discussions we
are convinced that the Magna Systems team is highly capable to implement our highly
configurable and customizable product. Magna Systems appeared to us as one of the most
competent system integrators we ever came across. This helps our partnership directly
translate into measurable value for our customers - which is what counts most for both of
us.”
