Tim Addington

The commercial TV debut of Kath & Kim was a clear ratings winner for the Seven Network, with the adventures of the foxymorons becoming the single most watched programme this year.

Backed by an extensive national marketing campaign, Kath & Kim pulled in 2.5 million viewers across the five metro capitals, peaking at 2.73 million and taking a 50% all people share in its timeslot.

Series four of the comedy trounced Ten’s Australian Idol, which was pushed into sixth place with 1.415 million viewers, with Nine’s 60 Minutes slipping to thirteenth position with 1.134 million viewers according to Oztam figures.

Kath & Kim smashed its previous highest rating ABC episode which was 2.09 million.

The second most watched programme on Sunday night was Seven’s My Name is Earl, which followed Kath and Kim, pulling in 1.667 million viewers.
