Simon Bellamy, founder of media agency BellamyHayden, is to take a step away from the day-to-day running of the business as the agency prepares for a new structure in the New Year.
Co-founder Phil Hayden confirmed Bellamy, currently executive chairman, will be “working on the business, rather than within the business”. Hayden denied rumours Bellamy was to depart the agency, insisting he would still have a role to play in the new structure to be unveiled in the New Year.
Bellamy was previously executive director of the agency, before moving into an executive chairman role just over a year ago.
The media agency, which this year moved into media buying as well as planning, is owned by Photon. The marketing communications network owned 40% of the agency when Bellamy and Hayden set up the agency in 2000, and in 2007 took the other 60%. It has offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Bangkok. It’s understood that as part of his new role, Bellamy will be spending more time out of the country.
It’s unclear what new shape the company will take, but the company has been evolving in recent times, with both media buying and PR added to its offering.
