Honda consolidates with FCB

FCB Melbourne is staffing up after being appointed as the sole agency for the Honda business, with a creative team from Western Australia set to join the agency in early 2003.

The Honda business was previously split between FCB Melbourne and The Sanford Partnership. Under the new arrangement, FCB Melbourne will handle advertising across the Honda portfolio of brands and has already staffed up to handle the extra workload.

FCB Melbourne MD Andrew Scott this week announced two new additions to the agency—Patrick Lennox and Jason Ryan (formerly of Marketforce).

FCB’s appointment will generate around $10m in additional billings. Meanwhile, The Sanford Partnership ran an ad in this week’s The Australian Financial Review, expressing its feelings about the loss.

“We’re sorry you’re leaving,” the ad said. “Was it the seven year itch? Never mind, like many great relationships, it’s over. We hope you will go forward and build on the foundation of all the successes we shared.”
