PR agency Res Publica has been appointed by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to provide support in preparation for its debut Australian event at Acer Arena in February 2010. The event sees athletes compete against each other using a mixture of martial art disciplines, including the Olympic combat sports boxing, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, judo, taekwondo as well as traditional martial arts such as kickboxing, karate, jiu-jitsu, and Thai boxing.
Advertiser Enterprises, the publishing division of Advertiser Newspapers, has launched a glossy, high-end lifestyle magazine Deluxe Adelaide, which will be distributed during the city’s peak arts festival period. Produced in collaboration with the South Australian Tourism Commission, the magazine will initially be inserted into The Weekend Australian in a format excluding advertising, with an additional 20,000 copies with advertising set to be distributed around the city from January to March 2010 in top hotels, bars, cafes and all arts festival venues.
Frank PR has been appointed by FBi 94.5FM to handle PR for the 2009 Sydney Music, Art and Culture Awards (SMAC Awards). Following on from the ‘Ask Richard’ campaign earlier this year, FBi 94.5FM has appointed Frank PR to handle the publicity for the Awards which are given to the artists, musicians, venues, promoters, creators and culture makers of Sydney. Organised by FBi 94.5FM and Time Out Sydney magazine, the 12 awards categories include Best Arts Event, Best Collective, Best Sydney Song, Best Live Music Act and Best Major Festival. Nominees include Brian Eno, Nick Cave, Cate Blanchett and Sarah Blasko.
Brand consultancy Interbrand has hired Chris Doyle after he caught the eye of the design industry, receiving acclaim and notoriety, with the launch of his own personal Christopher Doyle Identity Guidelines 2008, which were recognised with both the AGDA 2008 and D&AD 2009 awards. His portfolio of clients includes working across banking, automotive, professional services, arts, health, engineering and tertiary education sectors.
