Breaking campaign: Sony begins World Cup build-up

Sony Australia is rolling out a new TVC, featuring Socceroos players Tim Cahill and Lucas Neill, in an attempt to capitalise upon the build up to this year’s World Cup.

The ad, created by Saatchi & Saatchi, shows members of the public joining in Cahill and Neill’s preparations for a big match, including an uphill run and an ice bath. Shot in Sydney and Liverpool, England, the ad has the tagline ‘Feel what they feel.’

Sony, which has signed Cahill and Neill as brand ambassadors, will air the ad until the World Cup final, which will take place in July in South Africa.

“The 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa is the first World Cup to be broadcast in HD in Australia and is widely predicted to be the most popular ever,” said Ruben Lawrence, strategic partnerships manager, Sony Australia.

“Sony makes technologies that allow fans to believe in the magic of the game by both capturing and watching football – all in amazing quality. These technologies not only bring you closer to the action on the pitch, but also closer to the raw emotions of the players and other fans in the stadium.”
