SBS rides off with Tour de France rights to 2012

SBS has secured the exclusive broadcast rights to the Tour de France until 2012.

The deal struck with the owners and organisers of the tour, Amaury Sports Organisation, also includes online and mobile delivery.

In 2005 SBS broadcast every stage of the three week event live for the first time and this year included radio reports and interview in more than 10 languages.

“SBS has enjoyed a strong professional relationship with rights holder, ASO, for many years, having completed its 17th Tour de France broadcast in July this year,” said SBS managing director, Shaun Brown.

“This new five-year agreement, which takes us through to 2012, reaffirms our continuing commitment to cycling and the tour as a major event on our annual sports schedule.”
