Gillette shaves it like Beckham

US: GILLETTE Co. has signed global soccer star David Beckham as the latest endorser of its men's grooming products and the centrepiece of a summer ad campaign, executives close to the situation have reportedly said.

While Gillette would not comment several executives with knowledge of the agreement confirmed the collaboration. The multiyear deal is expected to be worth $US30m to $US50m.

Gillette, a major global sponsor of soccer's 2002 World Cup, spends about $US600m annually in advertising globally. The marketer plans a new advertising campaign in June, from Omnicom Group's BBDO Worldwide, New York, for the launch of its Mach 3 M3 Power Razor, which has a vibrating, battery-operated handle. BBDO referred calls to Gillette. Source: AdAge
