Fox goes to public for reality TV ideas

FOX World Australia has unveiled a new strategy to milk the popularity of reality TV shows for all it’s worth.

The Australian production and development division of Fox Television Studios in Los Angeles is running a competition it is calling Pitch-O-Rama inviting people to submit their ideas for possible reality TV shows.

The best will be pitched directly to the Fox Broadcasting Company’s (FBC) Mike Darnell, the creator of reality TV formats including American Idol, Temptation Island and Joe Millionaire.

Fox World Australia head of creative affairs David Maher said the creators of the best fifty would be asked to personally pitch their ideas to Fox World Executives. The top three ideas will then be presented to Darnell, who is FBC’s executive vice president specials, alternative, and late night programming.

Fox World Australia’s credits in Australian include Crash Palace, Body & Soul, Surprise Wedding and Love Bytes.
