Chiropractors give thumbs up to Virgin text stunt

VIRGIN Mobile has managed to get the Chiropractors Association of Australia on board as a partner in its latest PR stunt—the launch of national Safe Text Day this Friday.

Billed as being devoted to giving thumbs and fingers some light hand relief, Virgin is encouraging mobile phone users to wear a band-aid on their “text” thumb on the day that celebrates SMS.

It will also be distributing a list of exercises aimed at “improving the performance of everyone’s text life”.

The Chiropractors Association of Australia (NSW) vice president and public education officer Dr Joseph Ierano said CAA said that with the boom in text messaging it was important that everyone “knows how to text safely”.

“The Chiropractors Association of Australia recognises that if you text message regularly it’s important to look after your thumbs, fingers, neck and back so you can get the most out of your text life,” Ierona said.
