Marvellous: Tourism Australia uses Benaud to bowl over Brits

Australian cricket commentator Richie Benaud is being used to promote Australia to the English during the Ashes test series.

Tourism Australia says it plans to run for the first time on British TV an the ad featuring Benaud that is part of its “Australia: a different light” campaign launched in May last year.

The features Benaud’s using his trade mark style of commentary including his passion for the word ‘marvellous’ to describe Australia. It ends with his comment ‘Marvellous stuff from Australia”.

Tourism Australia managing director Scott Morrison said the use of the campaign would “build on the noise about Australia during the Ashes series”.

“This presents Tourism Australia with a fantastic opportunity for the Brand Australia campaign to tie in with the Ashes Series”.
