Carat Melbourne has won Disney’s $25m media account, following a two-way pitch against Starcom.
The pitch was called after Disney split with Mindshare, its agency of the past 11 years.
Carat and Starcom were chosen for the closed pitch due to the agencies’ existing relationship with Disney. Carat handles the entertainment giant’s media in several European markets, while Starcom holds the business in the US.
Carat will handle planning, buying and digital across all media for Disney.
Alan Finney, vice president/managing director, Walt Disney Studios Motion
Pictures said: “We are delighted and excited at the prospect of working with Carat as we know that their enthusiasm for the Disney brand and their proven professional expertise in Australia will ensure that we are able to meet the challenges presented by our upcoming line-up of blockbuster films.”
Peter Barrie, CEO of Carat Australia, added: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been appointed as Walt Disney Australia’s media agency.
“Their passion and vision for both the Motion Picture and Home Entertainment divisions is infectious and the whole Carat team is looking forward to a magical journey.”
