Famous and provocative creative director Trevor Beattie has revealed ambitions to open an Australian office of his agency, Beattie McGuiness Bungay.
BMB, initially set up to service Westfield, a client Beattie handles the design work on in the UK, and mooted plans to start something in the US, most likely with Crispin Porter + Bogusky’s Chuck Porter.
In its first 15 months BMB has picked up 15 UK clients including Discovery Channel, First Choice Holidays, McCain, Selfridges, Heinz and SkyNews.
Beattie’s pet hate is mediocrity; something he thinks is far too prevalent in advertising today.
“I feel like writing letters of complaint about mediocrity, about people not knowing the difference between a Peugeot and a Citroen ad. I don’t understand why people aren’t up in arms about it and yet you show a nipple in an ad or use the word ‘poo’ and you get arrested,” he says.
