Melbourne independent agency Marmalade has won creative duties on Mercedes-Benz Vans, following a competitive pitch.
Marmalade triumphed following a pitch against six other agencies for the business, which includes work on the Vito and Sprinter ranges.
It’s understood that the account had been held over the past decade by design agency In Focus Communications.
Melonie Lowe, marketing manager at Mercedes-Benz Australia, told B&T Today: “With the global financial crisis in play, it was good time to see what was out there. It made good business sense to hold the review.”
The win is a boost for Marmalade, which is looking to expand organically with some upcoming hires. However, the agency said it wouldn’t take people on specifically for the Mercedes-Benz business.
Victor Maree, managing partner at Marmalade, said: “Its’ a fantastic brand. They’re not just vans, they’re Mercedes-Benz Vans.
“We very much look forward to working with the vans team. It’s been our ambition to get the opportunity to work with an automotive brand for some time and there’s no better brand than this.”
Marmalade, which handles clients including Vic Roads, Heinz and Weight Watchers, is looking to move offices in the new year, from the Melbourne suburb of Richmond to nearby Prahran, due to its growth.
