Universal McCann chief executive Henry Tajer has replaced former Mindshare chief executive Chris Walton as Awards Chair for the Media Federation of Australia Awards.
Tajer was elected to the position following Walton’s resignation from his role at Mindshare in September. Walton fired off a final salvo during his speech at this year’s MFA’s when he accused industry commentators of pushing for “candyfloss collaboration” between ad and media agencies.
The election was decided at the MFA annual general meeting on Friday, with other positions also decided. Ikon founder Gary Hardwick was re-elected as president of the MFA, with Initiative chief executive Roger Camplisson re-elected as vice president.
In his president’s report, Hardwick highlighted successes in the past year including the Ngen program, a industry community for training young media professionals; the introduction of Media 1 screens in offices which keep members informed of developments, and MFA presentations to over 820 students to inform them of opportunities within the industry.
