Seven has officially been crowned as the number one network for 2007 following the end of the official ratings period.
In the critical primetime 6pm to midnight timeslot, Seven had a 29% all people share, up 1.2% on 2006, while Nine came in at 26.9%, down 2.2%. Ten was third with a 21.8% share, down from 22.3 in 2006. ABC had 16.6% and SBS 5.5%.
Ten’s AFL coverage of the AFL Grand Final was the most watched programme of the year, pulling in 2.56 million viewers, according to OzTam figures, while Nine’s Rugby league Grand Final was the second most watched programme with 2.42 million viewers.
Seven had half of the top 20 most watched programmes of the year, including Kath & Kim which was the highest rated series programme of the year, pulling in 2.13 million viewers. Nine had four of the top 20 shows, while Ten had six.
Nine released a one line statement from CEO David Gyngell on its 2007 performance. “We are pleased to have 2007 behind us. We’re building for 2008 and beyond,” he said.
David Mott, Ten’s chief programming officer said: “We finish 2007 exactly where we expected to be: ahead of our winning 2006 result in 18 to 49 and with our seventh consecutive win in under 40s.”
