Recording the best responses out of any marketing employer in the country, IBM Australia is this year’s B&T/Stopgap Marketing Employer of the Year, ranking first of all qualified entries in the survey.
Many of IBM’s marketing staff applaud the company for the flexibility and opportunities it provides.
‘Forward thinking’, ‘passionate’, ‘fair’ and ‘flexible’ are some of the words which were repeatedly used by staff when asked to sum up what they think of their place of work.
IBM marketing director Iggy Pintado says the marketing department employeees bring success to the business because they are a talented and passionate team.
“When we look at their contribution to the business, they are well regarded by the company. We’re all very passionate about winning and we can achieve a lot because we have very skilled and talented people,” he says.
Pintado adds that IBM works to be a flexible employer—enabling staff to strike a healthy balance between their work and personal lives.
The survey found that this flexibility was an overwhelming reason for employee satisfaction, with one respondent stating it is a great place to work because of “flexibility in workplace location and working hours”.
And this is evident, Pintado says, in the IBM marketing department’s great return rate for those on maternity leave.
“It’s because they know they will be able to balance a family life and have a career in an IBM organisation.”
It is not just women who benefit from paid maternity leave. Men are also are eligible to take parental leave if they are the primary care-giver in their family.
Pintado advises employers to always listen to their staff and provide incentives through career opportunities, to maintain a satisfied and progressive workforce.
