Ikon Communications has won the Westfield media planning and buying account following a competitive pitch.
Ikon beat off competition from Initiative and OMD to win the retail giant. The move also strips incumbent planning agency BellamyHayden of the strategy side of the business and will no longer work with incumbent buying agency Mediacom.
B&T Today revealed the review in November last year, and it has been expected that planning and buying duties would be consolidated to one agency.
Westfield’s general manager of marketing John Bastich said: “Westfield would like to thank and acknowledge the work of BellamyHayden and Mediacom over the past six years.”
Ikon wiil now take on responsibility for the Westfield brand on all national and centre specific work. The account will transition over to the new agency in the coming months.
Creative agencies M&C Saatchi, which won Westfield’s creative account in July last year, and Moon Design are not affected by the review.
