Macquarie Radio Network has unveiled a new community website called ‘Street Corner’ that will feature a mix of user-generated content and advertising.
The site is designed to be a network for local communities to post opinions, promote events, list businesses details and discuss local happenings.
Angela Clark, chief executive of Macquarie Radio said: “We have been following trends in online ‘hyper local’ content recently and decided that it was time to launch a platform that serviced the needs of local communities. We focus on local issues on radio, but on-line we can add additional features such as classifieds and directories and give the community more control by letting them publish stories on the issues that have the most impact in their neighbourhoods”.
Street Corner will initially be launched for residents and businesses of Western Sydney covering Parramatta, Bankstown, Auburn, Fairfield, Holroyd and surrounding areas. However, Macquarie Radio plans to roll out the networking site in other Sydney locations in coming months.
