Westfield has launched a review of its advertising business with independent pitch consultants P3 hired to manage the process.
The Westfield account which is worth between six and eight million dollars is currently held by IdeaWorks and McMann & Tate..
Media planning and buying which is managed by bellamyhayden and MediaCom is unaffected.
Seven agencies have been approached to present credentials, with three or four agencies to be given a brief before a final selection is made.
Darren Woolley, managing director at P3 said both incumbents would be taking part in the review “but not on their own”. He said agency groups were being approached rather than individual agencies.
Explaining the reason for the review, Woolley said: “The business has undergone some structural changes in the last 12 months and they are looking to make sure that they have the right partners to fulfil the needs of the business. In the case of IdeaWorks they have been the incumbent for about five years.”
The successful agency will be announced in 12 weeks.
The creative account will cover Westfield’s 40 shopping centres in Australia, most of which are located on the Eastern seaboard.
