Boony out as Warnie steps up to the crease for VB

Shane Warne is to replace David Boon as the face of Foster’s VB brand and will front the biggest cricket promotion ever mounted by VB which is set to launch this summer.

As brand ambassador for VB, Boon, through the VB Boonanza I and VB Boonanza II campaigns helped win the brand a host of local and international creative awards.

Boon said: “The VB Boonanza phenomenon has been a truly humbling experience and never in my wildest dreams did I anticipate the public reaction. However, all good things come to an end and it's time to pass the baton onto a truly great Australian in Shane Warne.”

Details of the new VB campaign featuring leg spinner Warne, will be announced next month.

Peter Sinclair, VB spokesman said: “There is no bigger legend in world cricket than Shane Warne and VB will look to honour that legend by making Warne the face of our massive summer cricket campaign.”

Warne has played in 145 tests and last year took 708 test wickets, breaking the previous record.

VB’s “Talking Boony” doll campaign, created by George Patterson Y&R, earned a string of international accolades, including a gold Clio and gold at the News York Festivals Interactive & Alternative Media Show.
