Visa launches $400m global media review Tim Addington
OMD Australia’s tenure of Visa’s media planning and buying business is under review after the credit card company announced a $400 million global evaluation of the account.
Visa has launched the review in order to consolidate its media into one network.
Omincom’s OMD and WPP’s Mediaedge:cia –which are both incumbents on the worldwide account – are believed to have been invited to pitch for the account, although it is not clear whether other networks have been invited to take part.
OMD handles Visa’s business in North America and Asia, while Mediaedge manages Europe.
A spokesperson from OMD in Australia refused to comment on the review when contacted by B&T.
Visa is looking to streamline its operations around the world after it started to bring its different Visa under one international corporate umbrella called Visa Inc.
The company’s creative account, which is currently managed by Saatchi & Saatchi in Europe and TBWA\Chiat\Day in the US, is thought not to be included in the review.
