V Australia pushes LA short breaks

V Australia, Virgin Blue’s international airline, has launched a campaign to promote Los Angeles as a short-break destination for Australians.

Droga5 Sydney is behind the campaign which will see three friends win a trip to LA for three days and embark on a Twitter challenge that could see them score round-the-world tickets with Virgin-affiliated airlines.

Keen travellers, and Tweeters, are invited to visit www.4320LA.com and write in 140 characters or less why their team of three should win the LA short break.

The winners will be announced on July 20th, with the trio having to be packed and ready to leave for the US the following day. While in LA, they will be tasked with the challenge of posting 4,320 tweets, the equivalent of one tweet per minute, over the duration of the trip. The tweets will showcase their experiences in LA, promoting the city as an ideal destination for short getaways, despite being a 13 hour flight from Sydney.

A local film crew from Great Guns will document the three Tweeters’ LA adventure and post photos and video footage of their trip to the 4320LA site. The Twitter feeds will also be accessed on the site.

The competition is open now, with a promotional push, including radio and print ads, to roll out from next week.
