PBL’s carsales.com.au acquires retail automotive site
PBLMedia’s majority-owned online motoring website, carsales.com.au, has bought online retail automotive venture discountnewcars.com.au from Discount Vehicles Australia (DVA).
Carsales MD Greg Roebuck described the investment in DVA as “a good strategic fit with our core business.”
DVA was founded in September 1999, launching discountnewcars.com.au in January the following year.
The site, which aims to generate sales leads for the company’s 480-strong franchised dealer distribution base, attracts over 150,000 visitors per month with an active consumer database of 70,000.
Under the new ownership structure DVA will continue to operate as an independent entity headed by its MD Shane Pettiona and national dealer manager Con Lagos.
Carsales Greg Roebuck said: “We are investing in a successful, complimentary business. Carsales and DVA will operate quite independently, with carsales.com.au continuing to deliver different solutions to those that DVA provides to the car buying public.”
