A crafty Launceston pizza shop has taken revenge on an anti-marriage equality billboard next to its pizzeria by adding the words “pineapple on pizza” next to the original advertising message that read, “It’s OK to say ‘no’.”

Employees at the appropriately named Wiseguise Pizza in the suburb of Mowbray admitted they had painted the message next to the OOH campaign, but added they never meant to be political.

Pizza flipper Ben Barwick told ABC.net.au: “We are painting the side of our building, not on the sign, and basically turning that into a bit of humour.”

Barwick added that pizza store staff were “respectful of everyone’s opinions” and “we’re just here to make pizza”.

Wiseguise owner Alex Jones added that he believed the original anti-marriage equality ad could reflect badly on his business.

“We try not to have a political point of view as a business, so I think we’ve taken the stance away from it,” Jones said.

“Obviously we’re big believers in freedom of speech, and we’re very lucky that we live in a country that allows us to be like that.” he added.
