oOh! Innovation Wins Competitive Long Term Contract With Cairns Airport

oOh!media is excited to announce it has secured long term rights to Cairns Airport advertising in a win for its leadership in airport advertising innovation.

The agreement extends oOh!’s existing rights over advertising of the Domestic and International terminals and adds management of the airport’s external and digital assets to oOh!’s Fly business.

oOh! has developed a customised content platform for the terminals that will display a mix of advertising, passenger and flight information, as well as ambient content that will enhance passenger engagement and experience.

In a first for oOh!’s Fly business, the customised content will be designed to feel unique to Cairns Airport and add to the terminals’ sense of place.

Fiona Ward, general manager – commercial for Cairns Airport, said that oOh! had a strong track record in airport advertising and demonstrated a deep understanding of the environment.

“In consolidating the rights to our advertising assets, we were looking for a partner who could offer a rich experience to our customers across all of our assets,” Ward said.

“oOh! is a recognised industry leader in airport advertising and has shown that it not only understands how to engage with passengers, but also brings a level of innovation to the airport environment that is aligned with our vision for the future of Cairns Airport.

“We are particularly proud to be working with oOh! to expand the sense of place passengers experience in our terminal through displaying spectacular footage of the Great Barrier Reef and Tropical North Queensland’s other natural attractions.

“This stunning footage is a result of Cairns Airport’s partnership with one of Australia’s premiere specialist filming companies, Biopixel.”

oOh! group director of fly, Robbie Dery, said that the contract win followed a competitive tender process and is an exciting opportunity for both oOh! and Cairns Airport.

“We are proud to bring oOh!’s extensive national content offering and our digital capability expertise to this extended relationship with one of Australia’s leading regional airports,” Dery said.

“We want to contribute to the Cairns terminals’ sense of place in a way by making passengers feel that they are at the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef as soon as they enter the terminals.

“The vision is to bring together a digitally enabled advertising suite that delivers a richer and significantly improved passenger experience. This is what consumers are demanding and advertisers are being attracted to,” he said.

oOh! will complete the transformation of Cairns Airport’s advertising suite, including digitising all internal signs, by the end of 2016.
