NRL, AFL & Football Australia Show Support For Same-Sex Marriage

Australia’s major footy codes – Football Australia, the NRL and the AFL – are the latest corporations to come out in support of gay marriage.

The three codes will run a full-page advertisement in Saturday’s The Australian Magazine that accompanies the newspaper under the hashtag #TeamEqual the newspaper has reported this morning.

The campaign is the second to use News Corp newspapers to throw their support behind same-sex marriage. Last May some of Australia’s 50 top corporations – including Westpac, CBA, ANZ and Google – ran a similar full-page ad in The Oz.

The ad reads, “On and off the field we support and stand by our mates. “These sporting codes unanimously stand for fairness, believing all Australians should be treated fairly and equally in the eyes of the law.”
