Little Boy Says Barbie Is “So Fierce” In New Ad

Toy giant Mattel’s latest campaign for Barbie features a little boy for the first time who declares the new Moschino Barbie is “so fierce”.

The little boy is joined by two girl friends as they comment on Barbie.

The Moschino Barbie is a limited edition Barbie for the fashion label, and one which Vogue reports is rapidly selling out.

The campaign has been praised in the media for its inclusion of a little boy, showing Barbie is not just a girl’s toy.

“Bravo to Mattel and Moschino for reminding us that it’s okay for boys to love Barbie, too!” wrote The Huffington Post.

Digiday reports Mattel is trying to flip Barbie’s reputation and go against gender stereotypes when it comes to toys.

“Since the Moschino Barbie ad is for a limited-time partnership, it’s unclear whether Barbie will begin to incorporate boys into its normal campaign ads,” reported Digiday. “Here’s hoping Barbie will keep the fierce ‘so fierce!’ boy in its commercials. The world needs his energy.”
