Greens Set To Bombard Gay Men With Election Ads Via Grindr

Gay men looking for a quick hook-up via their Grindr app may soon get more than just the clandestine nookie they’d hoped. Instead they may get an ad for their local Greens candidate.

The Greens want to target the inner Melbourne seats of Higgins and Batman in the hope of getting both candidates into the lower house at the upcoming federal election.

The Greens believe the area has a significant amount of homosexual men who could be swayed for voting for their candidates. The area also contains a number of people who support gay marriage.

Greens candidate Jason Ball – a prominent gay figure and strong advocate of homophobia in sport – is standing for the sear of Higgins currently held by the Liberals by a healthy 9.9 per cent.

In the seat of Batman, the Greens will be fielding (Ms) Alex Bhathal who, Fairfax Media is reporting, stands a good chance of deposing current Labor member David Feeney.

Bhathal told Fairfax that these inner seats have a number of constituents that support Green’s policy such as renewable energy, refugees, justice and marriage equality.

Alongside the Grindr app the two local candidates have also been targeting gay clubs in the area and young un-enrolled voters. The Greens have used the infamous hook-up ad before for it’s inner Sydney candidates during 2015’s state election, proving particularly successful during Mardi Gras.
