Its controversial ‘Latex Ladies’ ad of 2016 was regarded as so offensive and sexist the censors banned it, but muffler chain Ultra Tune appears to be having none of the wowsers if its latest campaign is anything to go by.
The two latex-clad beauties that caused such a stir last time return in a new TVC that is reportedly the brainchild of the auto repair chain’s CEO, Sean Buckley, who extolled “people need to lighten up” after his 2016 masterpiece got the chop by the Advertising Standards Bureau.
This time around we see the blonde and the brunette driving around in a Mini Convertible wearing obligatory skimpy outfits before suffering muffler trouble which, worryingly, causes the car to explode. Following said fireball, our poor damsels in distress have a mandatory water fight with a fire extinguisher, including plenty of booty shaking, before being covered (cue wet T-shirt competition?) in greasy, oily gunk. They’re then saved by a passing Ultra Tune roadside assistance driver who enquires with a wink: “Car trouble?”

The new ad is reportedly the first in a series of five TVCs that will run during the Australian Tennis Open that starts today on the Seven Network.
In an interesting aside, News.com.au has reported that the blonde model in the ad – a Ms Laura Lydall – is the fiancee of Sean Buckley.
“I’m very sick and tired of all the boring ads that go on television. They’ve got no spunk, no life… We decided a couple of years ago to go down a path of making our ads interesting, and topical, and funny,” Buckley told News.
