M&C Saatchi’s Ben Welsh Named DDBs Head Creative After Toby Talbot’s Departure

DDB Australia has today announced the appointment of creative powerhouse, Ben Welsh, to the position of chief creative officer at DDB Group Sydney.

A world-renowned creative leader with numerous Australian and international creative and effectiveness accolades under his belt, Welsh will join DDB Sydney from M&C Saatchi, where he was creative chairman, Asia.

Chief executive officer, DDB Group Australia, Andrew Little, commented, “Ben is such a great person and the perfect creative leader for our agency as we look to continue our creative trajectory. I know our exec team and creative partners are excited to have him on board and I have every confidence that under Ben’s leadership, our agency will continue to deliver world-class work across the portfolio of fantastic brands we have within the building.”

Welsh said, “Some of the best people I’ve ever worked with are at DDB Group Sydney. It’s a standout office, in one of the world’s great networks, and the time is right for me to return to DDB. Toby has done a brilliant job during his tenure and I look forward to building on that.  He has assembled a team brimming with talent, who I can’t wait to work with.”

Marty O’Halloran, chairman DDB Group Australia and New Zealand, concluded, “Ben has long been at the forefront of exceptional creative work in Australia and I’m delighted to welcome him back to the DDB family. Welsh will start at DDB on 1st August. Toby Talbot resigned the agency on Monday to return to his homeland of New Zealand.
