Beautiful Ad Shows Old Polish Man Learning English For Holidays

If you watch this and don’t shed a tear or two, then your heart is made of stone, because this ad from Poland’s answer to Amazon is seriously heartwarming.

‘English’ is a story of an elderly Polish man who orders a complete ‘English for Beginners’ set on popular Polish online marketplace Allegro, and begins the difficult task of teaching himself the new language.

He places Post-It notes around the house – including on his dog, to remind him of English words – and practices in all kinds of circumstances, even picking up a few choice words from a violent action movie.

But what’s he learning English for? Where is he going for Christmas? Watch the adorable ad and tell us you’re not crying.

Created by agency Bardzo in Warsaw, ‘English’ is a gorgeous ad that asks viewers ‘What are you looking for?’ at the close of the spot, as we see the reason the old man has taught himself English.
