Australian holiday retailer, Luxury Escapes, today put out the call for video amateurs and aspiring filmmakers to create its next TV commercial for a chance to win $50,000, and have their commercial feature across Australian television networks in 2017.

The contest winner will earn a grand prize of $50,000 and see their commercial air across Australian TV networks in 2017. Luxury Escapes will also award four runner-up prizes of $500 with winning videos shared across Luxury Escapes’ social media channels.

The contest asks travellers to submit short videos based on the theme ‘the world’s best holidays’ that can be turned into a 30 second TV commercial. The public will then be asked to vote for their favourite video at makeourad.luxuryescapes.com, with a vote that will decide a shortlist of  five . Finally, a panel of industry experts will determine which one of the shortlisted commercials will air across Australian TV networks in 2017.

The panel of high profile industry experts set to help select the final winner include:

  • Konrad Spilva, CEO, Isobar Group Australia & New Zealand
  • Rob Belgiovane, Executive Creative Director, Belgiovane Williams Mackay
  • Blake Hutchison, General Manager, Luxury Escapes

Luxury Escapes General Manager, Blake Hutchison, said no one knows better than Luxury Escapes’ million plus members how the online travel retailer opens up the world’s best holidays.

“We know our members love sharing their travel experiences with their friends and on our social media channels, so we’re excited to be turning to them and other aspiring media professionals to create a Luxury Escapes commercial that will grab the attention of viewers across the country,” Hutchison said.

“If two heads are better than one, then it’s going to be an incredible month ahead as we tap the collective creativity of our members and see how they capture the ‘world’s best holidays’ on video.”

Members-only travel site, Luxury Escapes, has quickly become Australia’s premier online destination for curated luxury holidays, with support from some of the world’s best hotels. In the past year it notched up a 198 per cent year-on-year growth rate and is on run rate for more than $200 million of annual revenue.
